An 'EA 104' office chair by Charles & Ray Eames, Vitra.
The elegant office chair Aluminum Group is designed by the duo Ray and Charles Eames in 1958 and is today produced by the Swiss furniture company Vitra. Aluminium Group is one of the 20th century’s most iconic piece of furniture and the chair was initially designed for a private project. Eames’ mission was to create an office chair for an American art collector in Columbus, Indiana, and instead of the creating a shell construction; the couple choose an alternative way in the creating process because they wanted to achieve an elastic seat. Through bending a whole piece of fabric (which later become leather) between two profiles in aluminium, Eames acquired a unique design. The distinctive and downscaled shape contributed to an elegant expression, which fits perfectly around the dining table or the office desk.
The chair EA 104 comes with a frame in aluminium. Back and seat in purple textile.
